UVA Exchange
University of Queensland

Established in 1910, and ranked 48th in the world by the prestigious QS World University Rankings, the University of Queensland (UQ) is one of Australia's leading universities, with exceptional standards highlighted by a number of independent indicators and an international profile in teaching and research. UQ also offers comprehensive, world-class teaching and research facilities. UQ operates three main campuses locations, as well as maintaining teaching and research facilities in other parts of Brisbane and Queensland.

Teaching is underpinned by a dynamic research program and UQ's total research funding places it among Australia's top universities. UQ's academic staff is dedicated to teaching and research, which means that our lecturers are often leaders in their fields. An extensive network of services and facilities is available in and around UQ. Academic support includes the largest library in Queensland, 20 teaching museums and collections, well-equipped departmental laboratories and language laboratories and excellent computing and research facilities. Comprehensive support services are provided for the welfare of the University community.

This exchange will not open in Spring 2021. Students who are interested in studying at the University of Queensland in Spring 2021 can still do so by paying tuition and fees directly to UQ. (UVA students are eligible for a 10% reduction of UQ tuition fees.) Contact Education Abroad Advisor Hayley Spear if you are interested in discussing this option.

Location IconLocation

The University of Queensland's St Lucia campus is considered by many to be Australia's most attractive. Located seven kilometers from the city's heart on a magnificent 114-hectare site in a bend of the Brisbane River, the campus has expansive landscaped grounds and many playing fields. Its hub is a semi-circle of cloistered buildings enclosing the National Trust-listed Great Court. The Alumni Teaching Garden in College Road near the river is primarily a teaching and research facility but also includes a quiet area of lush rainforest with public walkways. The adjacent Una Prentice Memorial Garden, bounded by Roberston Walk and Ferry Walk, surrounds two of the three lakes on campus.
