UVA Hoos Abroad
Student international travel for university-related purposes remains restricted in response to the pandemic. The International Studies Office website provides information on current restrictions, including the University Restriction on All Student International Travel due to COVID19.
Graduate students and Medical (GME) Residents may request an exemption to the university restriction. To submit a reqeust, open a Hoos Abroad registration and complete the petition requirement. Exemption requests for Hoos Abroad will be reviewed on a rolling basis, though decisions will not be made until at most four weeks before the scheduled departure date. Registrations will remain in "pending" status until a decision is made.
This Registration is appropriate for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students (including medical residents) engaging in Individual Student Travel outside of the United States for University-related purposes.
- Graduate Medical Education Trainees: These requirements are part of your International Rotation Application approval and must be completed AFTER the full GMEC approval. We understand that your travel details may change; please enter final arrangements only.
- Medical Students: These requirements are part of your International Elective credit approval and must be completed at least 30 days prior to your departure. (As travel details may change, the Travel Information questionnaire may be completed after this date. Please enter only final arrangements).
The requirements should be completed 30 days prior to departure. The International Studies Office recommends that participants complete the Registration as early as possible.
Change of Plans
If your plans change after having begun the Registration and you will no longer participate in the international activities, please contact the International Studies Office at firstname.lastname@example.org to cancel your Registration accordingly.
