London School of Economics General Course

Students interested in an immersive, academically-rich experience should consider the year-long General Course program. Students in this program have access to more than 300 courses offered at LSE, with a range of social science subjects.

Most courses at LSE are year-long in duration, with teaching taking place in the fall and spring terms, and examinations are held the first week of January and in the summer term. The year-long structure means that students are able to cover topics in considerably more depth and breadth than in an equivalent single-semester course. General Course students take four courses (or equivalent half-unit courses). These courses will include lectures and smaller discussions, and students are expected to pursue independent study as well.

Students can join any of LSE’s 200 social, political and cultural clubs and societies. The university also organizes various social events for year-long students throughout the year. Students can apply for accommodation through LSE. 

Students are advised to apply early for this competitive program. 

Students are responsible for securing their own housing for this program.
